Enterprise Architecture Overview Training Course

This course will explain how to use SysML, the modeling language for systems engineering. You will explore block diagrams for the structural modeling of complex systems. You will delve deeper into the sequence diagram, the state machine diagram, and the activity diagram for dynamic modeling. You will also learn to use specific SysML diagrams such as the requirements diagram and the parametric diagram, as well as the concept of allocation. We will also emphasize the importance of defining a modeling approach tailored to the business context and the type of system under study. Hands-on practice will be conducted using the modeling tool Cameo Systems Modeler (MagicDraw) by NoMagic.

The OCSMP Model Builder – Fundamental certification validates the knowledge and skills necessary to create a basic SysML model of a system. The exam assesses proficiency in model concepts and organization, capturing and managing requirements, developing structure and behavior models, constructing parametric models, utilizing allocation relationships, and applying stereotypes. By demonstrating competence at this level, along with familiarity with a suitable SysML modeling tool, a certified professional can effectively contribute to modeling tasks within a Systems Engineering team that employs a model-based systems engineering approach using SysML.  This certification serves as a prerequisite for the program’s two advanced levels and requires the OCSMP Model User Certification as its foundational prerequisite.  

This examination (along with others in the OCSMP series) evaluates your ability to apply the listed knowledge and skills within the context of a system model. As you prepare, strive to look beyond individual diagrams and understand how the aspects modeled in one diagram type can influence or affect those represented in others.

This course targets business analysts, managers, team leaders, and process owners, equipping them with the essential skills to develop use case diagrams and scenarios. These tools facilitate the elicitation, analysis, documentation, and communication of functional requirements. Participants will gain hands-on experience in constructing use cases using the Unified Modeling Language (UML) to visually depict interactions between actors and use cases.
