Upon completion of this training course, you will be able to:
- Describe the fundamental concepts and principles of an AI management system as defined by ISO/IEC 42001
- Analyze the requirements of ISO/IEC 42001 for an AI management system from an auditor's perspective
- Assess the conformity of an AI management system to ISO/IEC 42001 requirements, applying fundamental audit concepts and principles
- Plan, execute, and conclude an ISO/IEC 42001 compliance audit in line with ISO/IEC 17021-1 requirements, ISO 19011 guidelines, and general auditing best practices
- Oversee an ISO/IEC 42001 audit program

The “PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor” exam fulfills the requirements of the PECB Examination and Certification Program (ECP). It assesses the following competency domains:
Domain 1: Fundamental principles and concepts of an AI management system
Domain 2: AI management system requirements
Domain 3: Fundamental audit concepts and principles
Domain 4: Preparing an ISO/IEC 42001 audit
Domain 5: Conducting an ISO/IEC 42001 audit
Domain 6: Closing an ISO/IEC 42001 audit
Domain 7: Managing an ISO/IEC 42001 audit program

Certification
PECB ISO/IEC 42001 Certification Path and Requirements
After successfully passing the exam, you may apply for one of four professional credentials based on your level of experience. All credentials require passing the PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor Exam (or an approved equivalent) and signing the PECB Code of Ethics.
1. Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Provisional Auditor
Best suited for newcomers to the field who have acquired the theoretical knowledge but lack practical auditing or industry experience.

2. Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Auditor
Intended for professionals with foundational experience in artificial intelligence management and auditing.

Exam Requirement: Pass the PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor Exam (or equivalent)

Professional Experience: Two years total, including at least one year of specific work experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Management System Audit Experience: A minimum total of 200 hours of qualifying audit activities

Additional Requirement: Sign the PECB Code of Ethics
3. Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor
The standard credential for experienced professionals qualified to plan, lead, and manage AI management system audit teams.

Exam Requirement: Pass the PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor Exam (or equivalent)

Professional Experience: Five years total, including at least two years of specific work experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Management System Audit Experience: A minimum total of 300 hours of qualifying audit activities

Additional Requirement: Sign the PECB Code of Ethics
4. Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Senior Lead Auditor
The highest tier, designed for expert practitioners with extensive, long-term leadership experience in auditing AI frameworks.

Exam Requirement: Pass the PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor Exam (or equivalent)

Professional Experience: Ten years total, including at least seven years of specific work experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Management System Audit Experience: A minimum total of 1,000 hours of qualifying audit activities

Additional Requirement: Sign the PECB Code of Ethics
Note on Qualifying Audit Activities: To be recognized by PECB, your audit hours must adhere to best practices and include activities such as audit planning, managing audit programs, drafting audit or nonconformity reports, conducting on-site audits, and leading audit teams.
General
- The training course fee includes certification and examination costs.
- Participants will receive training materials comprising over 450 pages of explanatory content, examples, best practices, exercises, and quizzes.
- An attestation of course completion, valued at 31 CPD (Continuing Professional Development) credits, will be issued to participants who complete the training course.
- If candidates do not pass the exam, they are eligible to retake it for free within 12 months of their initial attempt.
Requirements
Participation in this training course requires a foundational grasp of ISO/IEC 42001, as well as an understanding of AI principles and concepts.
