Day 1: Introduction to ISO 22301 and the initiation of BCMS implementation

Day 2: Developing the implementation plan for a BCMS

Day 3: Executing the implementation of a BCMS

Day 4: Performance evaluation, continual improvement, and preparation for the certification audit

Day 5: Certification exam

The “PECB Certified ISO 22301 Lead Implementer” exam is aligned with the PECB Examination and Certification Program (ECP) standards. The assessment covers the following competency domains:

Domain 1: Fundamental principles and concepts of a BCMS

Domain 2: Initiation of a BCMS implementation

Domain 3: Planning of a BCMS implementation based on ISO 22301

Domain 4: Implementation of a BCMS based on ISO 22301

Domain 5: Evaluation of BCMS performance based on ISO 22301

Domain 6: Continual improvement of a BCMS based on ISO 22301

Domain 7: Preparation for a BCMS certification audit 

PECB ISO 22301 Implementer Certification Requirements

To obtain PECB ISO 22301 Implementer certification, all candidates must pass the PECB Certified ISO 22301 Lead Implementer Exam (or an approved equivalent) and agree to sign the PECB Code of Ethics.

Based on your professional background and practical project experience, you may qualify for one of four distinct credential levels:

1. Provisional Implementer

  • Credential: PECB Certified ISO 22301 Provisional Implementer

  • Professional Experience Required: None

  • BCMS Project Experience Required: None

  • Ideal For: Industry newcomers or professionals transitioning into business continuity management who have passed the exam but have not yet accumulated significant field experience.

2. Implementer

  • Credential: PECB Certified ISO 22301 Implementer

  • Professional Experience Required: Two years in total, including at least one year dedicated to Business Continuity Management.

  • BCMS Project Experience Required: A cumulative minimum of 200 hours of project activities.

3. Lead Implementer

  • Credential: PECB Certified ISO 22301 Lead Implementer

  • Professional Experience Required: Five years in total, including at least two years dedicated to Business Continuity Management.

  • BCMS Project Experience Required: A cumulative minimum of 300 hours of project activities.

4. Senior Lead Implementer

  • Credential: PECB Certified ISO 22301 Senior Lead Implementer

  • Professional Experience Required: Ten years in total, including at least seven years dedicated to Business Continuity Management.

  • BCMS Project Experience Required: A cumulative minimum of 1,000 hours of project activities.
